Despite the lower stretchness, however, it will provide comfort even with drops and more complex elements. Due to its properties, it is also suitable for hanging in a space with a lower ceiling.

Silk is made of highly durable, at the same time fine fabric, suitable for aerial acrobatics. It has a velvety surface on one side, which ensures a good grip, less slippage and exercise on it is more comfortable. Aerial silk for aerial acrobatics

Aerial silk is an exercise on a fabric made of solid material. The aerial fabric is anchored to the ceiling and hangs in two parts. With the help of climbing, tangling, nice poses or even adrenaline rolling - drops - parachutes are created in the air. The fabric is stretchable in width and length (there are different elasticities of aerial silks).

What length of Aerial Silk choose?

The length of the aerial silk depends on the height of your ceiling. In general, the following tool applies when deciding about silk length: 2 x ceiling height + 2 m. It is necessary to leave at least 1 m of fabric on each side on the ground. It is because during exercise you need to "have" more silk to wrap around the legs, body, etc.

What flexibility of Aerial Silk to choose?

When it comes to the flexibility of the silk you need to consider the height of the ceiling and whether you are a beginner or an advanced acrobat. High flexible aerial silks are more suitable for advanced "aerialists" (aerial acrobats). So, if you are a beginner you want to choose a silk with the lowest flexibility. This is because the fabric stretches less when practicing, it is easier to climb on the silk and make the footlocks. Also, if you practice on a silk that is rigged in a low space, a silk with low flexibility is more suitable for you, you will get more space to exercise.

How to set up Aerial Silk?

Aerial Silk needs to be attached to a special type of carabiner - Figure Eight. Never anchor the aerial silk directly to the oval carabiner or attach it to the suspension point in any other way. Tie the Silk to the Eighth so that the small eye of the Eighth is up and the big one is down. First fold the silk in half and pass it through the big eye of the Eighth. Go under the Eighth and put the silk on top of the little eye. Tighten both ends of the silk strongly. Attach the small eye of the Eighth to the Oval steel carabiner and attached it directly to the Ceiling mount.

How to take care of an Aerial Silk?

Do not wear jewelry or sharp hair applications when practicing as this can damage the fabric and create a hole. For hygienic reasons, it is necessary to wash the silk once in a while, especially if more people use it. Never dry silk in direct sunlight, the fabric may change color or its properties may be destroyed.

Can silk be washed in a washing machine?

Yes, silk can be washed in a washing machine at 30 ° C, without the use of fabric softener. Remove all carabiners before washing. Do not use a dryer, just let it dry naturally.

Is it okay if lumps start to form on the silk?

Yes, it is a natural phenomenon of using silk. However, this does not indicate a defect. On the contrary, silk is less slippery after longer use and is better practiced on it.

Why is the silk more expensive than the others?

It is made of a coarser material, it has a higher weight, which ensures its long life. At the same time, practicing on this silk is much more comfortable, as it does not cut into the skin and pushes less when wrapping the legs, arms, etc.

How to rig an aerial silk at home?

Aerobatics is an incredible set of skills that require strength, flexibility and a willingness to hang upside down. At present, the aerobatics disciplines do not have any industry standards or regulations. Although some of them date back one hundred years ago, aerial acrobatics is still considered a relatively new area of expertise. This can make it difficult to find all the information you need in one place.

You always need to know the conditions under which you decide to rig the aerial silk. Aerial acrobatics develop a dynamic load that must be considered when rigging the aerial apparatus. It is not the same as rigging e.g. swings (in addition, it is rigged at two points and thus the load is distributed).

First you need to know what load your beam (ceiling, beam, ..) can withstand and whether the beam is wooden or metal. There are huge differences between these materials and it is important to know from the beginning what you are dealing with. The rigging itself should be done by a qualified professional, whether it is a steel beam, wooden beam, concrete ceiling or anything else. This is something we would not be able to deal with, and we would recommend that you talk to a structural engineer to make sure that your beam can withstand the load that is needed.

If you have a reinforced concrete ceiling at home, we recommend that you purchase our Ceiling mount.
